This project is to enable the members first have access to affordable soap for their home use, and generate income through selling soap to the community, schools and other institutions.

Project 002: Beadwork Project upgrade
This is an existing project that the group has engaged in. Through partners, we have been able to make sales and members receive some money from the proceeds. Part of the money is also used to provide meals and sanitation needs for members who go to the Lewaso Lodge to make the beads.

Project 003: COVID-19 prevention and response
This project has been funded by the Australian Government through the Kenya Australia Alumni Association. We are extremely grateful for their support. This project has come into being due to the global situation being experienced with COVID-19. Laikipia County where we are located has already reported two cases of infection.

Project 004: Tailoring Project
This is an income-generating project. Already the group received a donation of three sewing machines. World Vision has donated another 4 sewing machines. Read More
Project 005: Bee keeping project
The initiation of this project has been fast tracked thanks to World Vision Kenya who have donated 60 beehives. These have already been installed. We are extremely grateful for their support. Read More….
Project 006: Empowerment of girls, women and mothers to fight harmful practices
In this project we shall gather the members of Chui Mamas, their daughters and community leaders to talk about the harmful practices of Child Marriage, and Female Genital Mutilation.

Project 007: Improved Housing Project
A number of our members’ houses are leaking and thus they suffer during the rains. We are looking at providing them with iron sheets to roof their houses. With iron sheets installed, we shall also install gutters and a water tank of 1,000 litres for rain water harvesting. This will enable the members covered to have access to clean water for cooking. Since some of them have children with disabilities, it makes it easier for these children to access water when they are alone.

Project 008: Healthcare support – Obstetric Fistula Treatment
We have members who need corrective surgery to treat obstetric fistula. We require to find partners who can offer this service to our members at reduced rates.

Project 009: Farming
This project has been launched, currently being run at the Lewaso Lodge compound. Once the Community centre fence is put in place to prevent wild animals and herders from destroying the crops, the project will be moved to the new farm.
The community elders have already allocated some land for use by Chui Mamas. While the plan is to build a community centre, we think that putting the land to other use in the meantime would be of great use for the members. Read More….
Project 010: Community Centre project
Chui Mamas has launched a number of projects that have great potential. Some are yet to be launched because of lack of space. Currently Chui Mamas are held at Lewaso lodge, which is a private business. This therefore means that the space available for group activities is limited. The space becomes more strained when there are guests at the lodge in which case the group has to struggle to find space to store things and work from.

Project 011: Conservation
Wildlife conservation is the practice of protecting wild species in their natural habitat in order to prevent species from going into extinction. Major threats for wildlife conservation include, poaching, human wildlife conflicts, poisoning, habitat loss due to human population increase, pollution and climate change.Laikipia is one the tourist destination in Kenya, therefore communities that are living within conservation areas benefit directly. Project 012 – Lchekut Programme – Adult Education and Literacy Project
This project will focus on Chui Mamas, herders,youths and community members.
We have young women and youths who dropped out from school due to early marriage, lack of financial resources and various other reasons. We also have adults who never had the chance to attend school. Many of them would like to learn during their free time.This is one of the projects expected to be run once the community centre is set up and space available for this programme. Read More….
Project 013 – Support for children with disability
Many Chui Mamas have children with disability, some very extreme. The community does not have traditional ways of providing therapy for these children. We therefore plan to have a programme that will support this mothers in taking care of the children. This will be done with the support of partners who are experts in this area. Read More….
Project 014 – Rescue centre for girls rescued from early marriage
As identified in the issues that we face in our community, early marriage is very rampant. We would eventually like to build a rescue centre for children rescued from early marriage so that they have a safe place to stay while their matter is addressed, and they also receive psychosocial support during this period. This is a long term project, and is planned to be implemented after the Community Centre is built. Read More….
